Lisa Olson

I love Jesus, children and music!  I have 5 of my own kids, ranging from toddlerhood through age 12, and am a certified music teacher for grades K-12.  Nearly 18 years ago I first came to the little church on the hill as a college student attending ASU, looking for a church home.  I needed experience directing children’s choirs and as it turned out, the church also needed a children’s choir director!

A Minnesota native, I found an instant connection with many of the transplants who were worshiping here and thus began a long and wonderful relationship with a congregation that I came to think of as family. If you are looking for a place to worship, I invite you to come visit our church and meet this marvelous family.  If you already are attending Shepherd of the Hills, I invite you to discover your own spiritual gifts and to use them for God’s glory.

Children’s church music is an excellent way to introduce children to the value of worship, song and praise for our Lord.  We offer choirs for children of all ages, beginning at age 3.

Cherub Choir consists of kids ages 3 through kindergarten.  Musical Shepherds is 1st-4th grades and Kingdom Choir is 5th-8th grades.  We like to sing, play instruments and explore movement.  A variety of music is taught ranging from traditional to global to contemporary genres.  An emphasis on the elements of worship and prayer is included with each rehearsal, as appropriate for the age of the group.  Commitment to the groups means attending a rehearsal each week and participating in worship on average of once per month during the programmatic year (Sept.-May).  We offer an exciting opportunity to participate in a quality musical production every June, which requires a more demanding rehearsal regime.  The musicals are Biblically based, usually containing very witty dialogue and always memorable.

Please feel free to contact me anytime with your questions about our ministry!  I’d love to see YOU in choir.

Shout for joy to the Lord all the earth.  Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.  (Psalm 100:1)
