Our Staff

Steve and Lynn Bergeson

Lynn and I are native Minnesotans. We both claim Austin, Minnesota as our home town. I am a graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN and Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. We are blessed to have our children and grandchildren nearby. I enjoy tennis, reading, and playing golf on any one of the beautiful golf courses in our area. I have served as the pastor of Shepherd of the Hills since 2005. It is a wonderful privilege to serve Christ with the gracious people, who call Shepherd of the Hills their church home. I would love to meet you and welcome you to join us in our ministry.

Deanna Freund

Deanna has been our director of music since 1993. She directs and accompanies the Faith Singers, Praise Team and Hand Bell choir as well as planning and leading our worship services musically. Although, she was classically trained, Deanna loves all types of music and plans and prepares groups for a variety of themed worship services through out the year, including Old time Religion, Camp, Christmas in July, Polka, and patriotic. Deanna also has extensive experience in theater and is able to apply these talents to our bi-annual cantatas and Holy Week services. Deanna grew up in Wichita, KS, and has been playing for church services since age 10. Deanna has degrees in Piano Performance from Wichita State University and Arizona State. She also enjoys her son, Andrew, her kitties, cooking, and anything outdoors.

Zac and Izzy Lusk

Zachary (Zac) Lusk has resigned his position as part-time youth director to further pursue his Masters of Divinity at Phoenix Seminary.  We thank him for his contributions here to youth ministry, and we pray for his future ministry opportunities with his wife Izzy.
Julia Becklund hales from Washington State, but has enjoyed time in Florida and California as well.  She is married with two children and two grandchildren who live close by.  As she had been working in corporate America for Fortune 500 companies supporting CEO’s, as well as privately owned businesses and this was a call she did not hesitate to take… “working for God.”  She serves as the Church Administrator, as well as the Children and Family Ministry Director. She has a heart for families and kids and understands the difficulties they face on a daily basis. In her spare time she loves the great outdoors, camping, fishing, hiking and playing “grammy.”
