The group filled 162 shoeboxes with the donated items and wrapped the boxes with Christmas paper. The shoebox tower was displayed in the church narthex and was blessed at Sunday service.
Operation Christmas Child

Women in God’s Service (WinGS) has completed Samaritan’s Purse project, Operation Christmas Child.  Samaritan’s Purse distributes shoebox Christmas gift boxes to support children’s international ministry.
SOTH congregation has been donating toys, sewing kits, stationary, small tool boxes, stuffed animals, T-shirts, flashlights and school supplies.
Members also supported the project by making financial donations
to cover shipping costs of the boxes.
“These donations of toys allow us to support children all over the world
throughout the Christmas season and into 2019,”
said Judy Konop, Vice-chairperson of WinGS.

Women in God’s Service (WinGS) met September 18 at Shepherd of the Hills to participate in Project Winter Coats. WinGS collected over 150 coats and sweatshirts from Resurrection Street Ministry, Mesa. AZ; Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Lakeville, MN; Holy Trinity Ministries, Burnsville, MN; and members of SOTH congregation. The group sized and boxed coats to be distributed to Friends Feed Friends in Moeur Park, Tempe; Amazing Grace Women’s Prison Ministry in Glendale, and the I-HELP program in Mesa. The group also collected gloves to insert into a pocket of each coat to provide warmth for the recipients.
Card Care Ministry

Though this is a small ministry, the women of WinGS have already sent nearly two dozen hand written post cards to women inmates. We write the cards and the people at Amazing Grace Church in Phoenix address them and get the card of encouragement to just the right person, at just the right time.  We have also started to write greeting cards and letters to our servicemen listed in the church bulletin. Those cards will be given directly to the family member of the serviceman, after we pray over them.
If you can write, you too can encourage someone with God’s love on a card.
Call Judy Konop (480-848-7220) to get cards and be part of this ministry.

Secret Sisters in Prayer is a one year gift of praying for another woman. You commit to pray for the sister whose name you draw and someone will draw your name and pray for you. It is first and foremost an offering of prayers to God for another. Some women remember their Secret Sister on holidays or their birthday with a card or a gift.
